Help Denise Bacher Keep Her Car

My name is Denise Bacher.

Religiously since 2020, I made my car payments of $339 every month, paying a little bit more when I could with my minimum wage job.

In January of 2024, I was sexually accosted by a coworker. I went on personal medical leave because it triggered my PTSD from a different sexual assault from a coworker 8 years ago.

My management did nothing about the continuous harassment I received from my assailant of January which went on for 9 months. I’d report and nothing happened.

After my medical leave was up, I couldn’t go back to that job or that field of work, wanting to go on unemployment and get trained for a different career. So, I quit.

My employer contested and I was found not blameless. However, unemployment said because I was on medical leave, I wasn’t working before I quit so I didn’t qualify for benefits.

I appealed but my appeal date has been set for August 2, 2024.

I have had no income whatsoever since medical leave stopped April 24, 2024.

My landlady is wonderfully understanding of the delay, as are most of my other bills (my credit is destroyed though) but this car payment… I cannot lose my car. I live out in the country. No buses. And I don’t wish to have to rely on my landlady for this as well.
