Help Denise Fuzzell Battle Gallbladder Cancer

Our Mother and dear friend Denise Fuzzell was diagnosed with Stage IV gallbladder cancer in October of 2021, a couple of months before her 69th birthday. Since then, she has bravely endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Despite a few close calls and one hospitalization, she has beaten the odds and is still with us almost a year after her diagnosis. We are turning to our extended community of family and friends (and maybe some strangers on the internet!) to help us help Denise, who has supported so many people in her lifetime.

Denise’s treatment is currently focused on chemotherapy, but we are running out of treatment options for her at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. She will need to travel out of state to seek further care and treatment options for her rare and aggressive cancer. We are raising funds to help cover healthcare costs, like out-of-pocket expenses, travel, lodging, and side effect management.

The healthcare system in America is disconnected, prohibitively expensive, and challenging to navigate. “My entire life, I’ve been healthy. I was a gymnast, health food advocate, and am a mother to seven beautiful daughters and five grandchildren. I don’t drink, smoke, or use caffeine, and I am an avid hiker. Before my diagnosis, I taught Tia Chi.

Accepting this diagnosis means I will miss weddings, new grandchildren, and graduations. I will miss all the wins and losses in the vibrant life of my large family. I am determined to fight.
