Help Derek and Kalyn Rebuild After Fire

Hi my name is Andrea, my son, Derek, and (almost) daughter in law Kalyn, were one of the families affected by the fire at Windsail Apartments in Tulsa on 7/29/2024. We are thinking God that they are safe, all their neighbors are safe. They were able to get their cat out, and the clothes they were wearing.

Derek and Kalyn are planning their wedding in 2 months, both work hard for everything they had, and are very active in their church. This couldn't have happened to two better people. Derek has refused to set up a go fund me for himself, saying others need it more, and while this is true, there were several people who lost more, they do so much for their community and are starting over on a tight budget. Any funds extra from their immediate needs will be shared with their neighbors who might still need support.

While the fire did not enter their apartment, the amount of water used to put out the fire caused their ceiling to collapse and the smoke damage is also severe.

We've spoken to a few restoration companies, and are told that the type of furniture and mattresses they have would be better replaced than restored. They will need to replace clothes, household goods, furniture, basically anything for an apartment. Food, hotel and basic toiletries for while they are displaced are also needed.

I also want to thank Windsail Apartments for quickly trying to get them into another unit. That should be done hopefully by the end of the week, but will be moving in with literally nothing.
