Help Derek Byron’s Recovery Post Emergency Surgery
Donation protected
Last Thursday, Derek was taken to OSU James cancer hospital where they found a brain tumor. Derek was then rushed into brain surgery. The surgeon did the first step, which was to remove the pressure (fluids/some of the tumor) that was the immediate threat to avoid permanent damage. The doctors during surgery placed a plate in his head with lots of staples. Due to a partial craniotomy, the surgery took 8 long hours. He is not out of the woods yet, as there are a slew of post-brain surgery issues. He is still in the ICU, but he’s alert and talking. We're thankful; the doctors discovered and fixed it before permanent damage was done. As of now, he has a long road to recovery and will potentially need more surgery. This Saturday would have been his college graduation, graduating from Capital University with a bachelor's in exercise science. He has just been awarded Exercise Science Person of the Year! We would love any amount of donation to help with any recovery expenses and family expenses as none of them have been able to work at this time. We wish for any prayers or positive thoughts.
