Help Desiree Overcome Her Health Challenges

Donation protected
We have decided to share this page with family and friends in order to help Des get through a very difficult 2024 year this far. Back in March, Desiree began experiencing severe pain and cramping, that caused her to go into the ER. She had a CT scan done around her ovaries where they found some suspicious spots in her falopian tube.. from that CT scan also showed a large suspicious mass on her left kidney. From here they scheduled an additional CT scan to look closer at the areas. Additional findings were several nodules on her lungs, a small hematoma on her spine and a spot in her sternum. Near the larger mass in the left kidney were two smaller spots. After meeting with her doctor in EC, they diagnosed her with kidney cancer, and referred her to Rochester to have the mass removed from her Kidney.
As you can imagine, this had been some very overwhelming news, and still many more unanswered details. Fast forward to April, Her doctor at Mayo had then scheduled an MRI for her pelvic area to have more clear images done on her left ovary/falopian tube. She also met with her Rochester surgeon via video as well as had her MRI and results back in the same week. Results of her ovaries came back clear, with no cancer concerns.
Her surgeon from Rochester is confident that he can go in and remove part of the left kidney where the mass is, with hopefully no chemo needed. He shared that at this time, the nodules on her lungs were not concerning or the spot on her spine, but did want a specialized MRI done on her sternum area to make sure the cancer has not spread to her sternum.
This specialized MRI is scheduled for May 10th. Her surgery is scheduled for May 29th down in Rochester, and she will be needing to take off 10-12 weeks post surgery. She will need to stay down in Rochester at least a couple nights, due to the surgery and to assure everything was looking ok.
We hope to have more details following the May 10th MRI and praying for a positive outcome.
In the meantime, Des could use a lot of positivity, support and encouragement during this difficult period in her life. She had also recently switched jobs, nearly a year in a half ago, therefore does not have financial coverage for those full 10-12wks due to already needing multiple days off regarding her health this year. We are also uncertain what additional might come from the May 10th MRI, for any further treatments or time off, but are staying hopeful for positive results. Our hope is to just try and make this time a little easier on Desiree and her family in any possible way.

No one is ever prepared to receive a cancer diagnosis and it totally blows, but Des is amazing, strong, and taking it all one day at a time...it is all happening very fast and with a whirlwind of emotions, but Des CAN and WILL do hard things and overcome this!
She definitely has a tribe rallying behind and alongside of her! Thank you for being here to support her in any way you can.
We appreciate you all and will continue to update you as we know more!
