Help Devon Fowlin continue his recovery
Donation protected
We're launching this fundraiser to help Devon Fowlin continue his recovery journey after being shot by a Toronto Police officer In February. I'm working directly with Devon to create this fund, and this message.
A Toronto police officer shot Devon in February while he was walking his dog in a Toronto park. Devon was carrying a knife but was not threatening anyone. At the time, Devon was living out of his car, with very little money or possessions. Police shot him with tasers, then shot him multiple times with a firearm. Thankfully he survived, but his difficult recovery continues.
Devon has been left permanently disabled by the police attack. He still has a bullet lodged in his right chest. His right arm is now disfigured, and two of the fingers on his right hand don't work well and are permanently curved. You can imagine the challenges he faces in completing daily tasks, let alone finding work.
We recently learned that the police officer who shot Devon has been criminally charged. While this is welcome news, it's the first time in months that the media has taken up Devon's story. Many in our city and country don't even know his struggle, which makes it harder to rally support for him.
Devon's family created a GoFundMe for him earlier this year , and collected about $9,000 USD for him. That fundraiser is now closed, but Devon's need for support continues.
Everything we receive from this fund will go directly to Devon for his daily expenses, medical needs, food and transportation. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate, kindly share this fundraiser. We will also use this space to provide any important updates. Thanks so much for your support.
