Help deze doofblinde man zijn droom waar te maken

Hallo allemaal, zijn jullie benieuwd wie ik ben?

Wie ben ik?

Ik ben Driss Oukake (hij/hem) [Hij draagt een bril, hij zit achter het scherm met zijn zwarte trui aan met witte achtergrond].

Ik kom uit Groningen, ik ben 28 jaar. Ik ben doofblind. Zoals je misschien al in de video merkt beheers ik de Nederlandse Gebarentaal en Ik heb daarnaast ook een Syndroom van Usher en type 1. Dit betekent dat ik doof ben geboren en rond de tien jaar oud last kreeg van nachtblindheid. En dat mijn zicht in de toekomst zal afnemen. De kans bestaat er dat ik blind zal worden.

Waarom zet ik hier een filmpje?

Afgelopen jaar heb ik mijn studie maatschappelijke zorg 4 afgerond. Daarom ben ik ontzettend trots op mezelf en ook omdat ik ben geslaagd als persoonlijk begeleider! Ik heb hier heel veel van geleerd, door op mezelf te reflecteren, confrontaties aan te gaan, te ontdekken welke kwaliteiten ik in me heb, welke verbeterpunten er zijn, hoe ik in de praktijk de samenwerking met collega’s kan aangaan, enzovoort. Ik wil altijd blijven leren. Daarom wil ik graag verder studeren aan het HBO. Nu wil ik graag een tussenjaar in het buitenland studeren, zodat ik mijzelf kan ontwikkelen aan de hand van dove en/of doofblinde rolmodellen. Ook wil ik inspiratie opdoen, mijn zelfvertrouwen verhogen en ook mijn kennis van de Engelse taal bevorderen.

Wat is het doel?:

Mijn droom is om volgend schooljaar naar de Gallaudet University te gaan. Deze universiteit heeft leerzame programma’s voor doofblinde mensen en daar wil ik heel graag leren. Helaas kan ik een schooljaar in Gallaudet University niet volledig zelf betalen. Ik heb daarom jouw hulp nodig om mijn droom waar te kunnen maken.

Als het bedrag boven de 50.000 euro uitkomt, zal ik dat doneren aan Ushersyndroom Stichting. Ze hebben financiering nodig voor nieuwe ontwikkelingen, zodat het Ushersyndroom behandelbaar zal worden rond 2025. Dit betekent dat mensen met het Syndroom van Usher weer beter kunnen worden! Hello everyone, are you already curious who I am?

Who am I?

I'm Driss Oukake (he/him) [He wears glasses, sits behind the screen with black sweater with white background] I'm from Groningen, I'm 28 years old. I am deafblind. As you may notice in the video, I speak Dutch Sign Language and I also have Usher Syndrome and type 1. This means that you were born deaf and will suffer from night blindness around 10 years old. And that my sight will decrease in the future. Chances are I'll probably go blind.

Why am I posting a video here?

Last year I graduated with study (social care 4) and I am very proud of myself that I completed this study and I also passed as a personal supervisor! I have learned a lot from it, reflecting on myself, entering into confrontations, what qualities I have in myself, what points for improvement there are, how I can cooperate with colleagues in practice, etc. Learning will never stop and I am eager to learn, that is why I want to I would like to continue studying at HBO. For now I would like to study abroad for a gap year, so that I can develop myself through such as deaf and/or deafblind role models, gain inspiration, increase my self-confidence and also promote English language!

What is the goal?:

I have a dream to attend Gallaudet University next school year. Gallaudet University has an instructive program for the deafblind and I really want to learn that. Unfortunately, I cannot fully pay for a school year at Gallaudet University myself, so I need your help to make my dream come true.
