"My name is Diana Regennitter, I was born in Michoacan, Mexico and at a very young age I was brought into the U.S. where I was raised. At the age of 15 I was forced to go to Mexico against my wishes. I tried to make a life in Mexico, but it was foreign to me, the language, the culture, and I saw very few opportunities to thrive as I was living a culture shock. At the age of 18, I was brought back by my ex-boyfriend and was a victim of domestic violence and abuse. With my newborn daughter in arms, I fled the relationship. 2 years later, I met the amazing man I have shared a life with for the last 15 years. We married in 2009 and have been inseparable since. We have 3 children together now. Aleah 16, Michael Jr 13, and Audrey 8. It came with challenges as Michael Jr. was born with developmental delays and had gone thru treatments and therapy since the age of 6 months old. Audrey was diagnosed with moderate autism spectrum disorder and has also gone intense therapy to improve her everyday life. My husband suffered a heart attack in 2018 and deteriorated his health. I stayed at home to care for our children and their medical needs. I volunteered at their schools to support the community and be involved with my children in their schools too. I tried to set an example for my children. We did everything we were told by the attorney managing our case for immigration since 2012. We were told we were going to be fine and we should have nothing to worry about. He made errors and blamed a previous employee of his for his negligence. After waiting 12 years, we finally received a date to our consulate interview, and despite a new law that would have helped us, he advised we come to Mexico for our interview. While in Mexico, I was told by consulate agent that I was barred for 10 years because I was considered inadmissible for the exit from the US I had in 2004. Even though it was an exit I did not want to do and was forced to do so by my parents. Now, my husband and children and I are paying the price for something I had no control over. I’m stuck in a country foreign to me away from home. My husband and kids do not speak the language to move to Mexico. He is our only provider for our family and cannot afford to leave his job and his work schedule makes it very hard to care full time for our kids. I’m asking for some clemency and a humanitarian parole so I can return to my family. Being separated affects us all and families should be together, not separated by borders.

Thank you."
