Help Diane Newbury Shoutis get Life-Saving Treatments

Hi, my name is Bill Scott and I'm organizing this fundraiser to help my good friend Diane Newbury Shoutis and her husband Skip afford the surgery she needs to have another chance at a normal life.

Diane has CTEPH (Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension), resulting from an inherited Factor V gene. The gene creates blood clotting which has damaged her lungs, which if unresolved leads to progressive heart failure and death.

After 15 months and 18 trips from their home in Lander, WY, to see a specialist in Billings, MT, and 10 months on very expensive medication (Adempas) that provided no improvement, her only hope now is specialized surgery called PTE to clean the blood vessels in the lungs.

With only a few centers in the U.S. where the surgery is available, they are currently researching their options.

Without the surgery her prognosis is not good. The surgery has good results in most people, and is the only option she has to return to a normal life.

Although insurance has covered many of their expenses, nevertheless they have depleted their savings and had to sell some of their land to pay for uncovered expenses.

Diane has been a pillar of the NOLS community and of Lander, and has lived a healthy, outdoor life to which we hope she can return.

Diane has been a good friend of mine for more than 55 years, and I am organizing this fundraiser to help Skip and Diane find and afford the medical help she needs. Any donation is very much appreciated.
