Help Dinu to Fight Brain Cancer!

We have set this GoFundMe for my brother Dinu Darii. On 3rd Jan 2021, Dinu was nauseous and vomiting, presenting few other symptoms like blurred vision and weakness. His GP recommended him an MRI scan which confirmed all our worst fears. Dinu was diagnosed with an extremely rare, aggressive and life threatening brain tumour which is difficult to treat.

The Neurological team recommended that we get a biopsy to determine the type of the tumour. This was an extremely risky procedure so it was a tough decision to make, but indispensable in order to get Dinu the right treatment.

The biopsy confirmed it was the worst case scenario - a high grade malignant brain tumour also known as Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG) with H3K27M mutation, which mostly develops in children and young adults.

Dinu has his battle for nearly 2years now, and he is a real fighter, always strong optimistic and full of willingness to win. During this time, he went through chemotherapy, radiotherapy and re-irradiation, however after 8months of stability, we have progressive disease.

As chemo and radio are not an option now, we got the chance to access the most promising experimental drug which has proven great results and successfully prolonged the lives of many other patients - ONC201.

However, in EU, the drug is only available in France and we have to purchase it for every 3months. Dinu is already on the treatment since June 2022. This requires a significant amount of money.

Our family hopes that with your help, this fundraising can raise the capital and help Dinu get his chance at beating his diagnosis and continue working, practicing his hobbies, studying, travelling, in other words - living!
