Help my disabled sister Christa have an accessible cargobike

Hi! My friends call me Jay and I'm a young carer of my immunocompromised sibling. Her name is Christa, and she has #DownSyndrome, had open-heart surgery, cancer, COVID, and #LongCOVID symptoms.

My mum has #LongCOVID, too, apart from late-diagnosis #autism and hard-of-hearing. Mum is Christa's full-time unpaid carer, unemployed, and who doesn’t drive a vehicle. Instead, mum had a three-wheeled #cargobike throughout our primary school years.

But because of #LongCOVID symptoms (heart and lung problems), mum cannot cycle long distances anymore.

Our household needs help to purchase an electric, pedal-assist e-cargobike called a ‘Nihola Rehab’ cargobike, available via local distributor @dutchcargo.au

We initially sought the NDIS for disability funding for the Nihola Rehab e-cargobike. But our request for funding was denied on the eve of #NDIS changes and defunding, despite submitting a 19-page assessment report by her Occupational Therapy team, proving that the Nihola Rehab is 'reasonable and necessary'.

We need this special e-cargobike to bring Christa to places, parks, local playgrounds, school, to her multiple medical appointments during this Year 5 of the COVID pandemic.

Please help fund an e-cargobike for my #disabled sibling and parent.

We are so near the half mark of goal amount that we made a downpayment for the 'Nihola Rehab' last month.

The accessible e-cargobike expected to arrive in time for #IDPwD - Dec 3, 2024 International Day of People with Disability.
