Dear compassionate friends and allies, let me hope this message finds you well.
My name is Laurine Awiuono, a lesbian refugee. I’m passing on this message from my fellow lesbian/ LGBTQ+ people who are seeking support and advocacy. We are creating awereness of what we are going through at a refugee camp.
LGBTQ+ people end up living in a refugee camp after fleeing violence and discrimination in our home countries, we now have the chance of emigrating to partner countries but need support to survive until this happens. We confront daily problems because of our sexual orientation and many people have got mental and physical health issues as a result as well as some have lost their lives. .
We as lesbians face shortages of sanitary pads, towels, food and access to medication. We also need tents, mattresses and mosquito nets. Your support will make a huge difference by providing hope, dignity and equality to the LGBT flocks at the camp who are suffering in silence.
