I am Heba Abu Helal, I am from Gaza living in Germany . I would like to convey this message from my sister Doaa and my family inside Gaza :
I'm Doaa Abu Helal, and I'm here today to share with you my tale of tenacity, willpower, and an unwavering spirit of optimism. I'm a sixth-year medical student at the Islamic University of Gaza, and I am reaching out to you in hopes of finding a lifeline, a ray of hope amidst the darkness. I'm determined to finish my last year of medical school and am searching for opportunities for additional medical training abroad. I'm here to tell you about my journey and to ask for your help in putting my broken dreams back together and reviving hope for a better future in Gaza.
During my study, my focus has been on doing very well academically, trying hard to keep high grades in my class. I was actively involved in the community as I served as the head of the scientific committee in the Palestinian Medical Forum- Student Branch, where I managed various curricular and extracurricular activities that aim to raise awareness about community health issues and promote a healthier lifestyle for our people.
I am always ambitious for new experiences and valuable opportunities that could enable me to improve my skills , so I have been accepted to make short a medical training trip in vascular and endovascular surgery department in Germany and finished it in previous July.
I volunteered at Nasser Medical Complex then I moved to volunteer at Al Najar Hospital dealing with injuries, and providing medical care to patients
In September, I began my last year at the medical school of the Islamic University of Gaza, excited to finish my last year and prepare myself to say the physician aoth, full of dreams and plans for post-graduation paths and specialization. However, my dreams were abruptly shattered when my beloved university, where I am studying was completely destroyed by Israeli bombardments. This tragic event coincided with the bombing of my father’s optical center. He is an optometrist and the only breadwinner for my family. He worked for 30 years to spend on us and provide a living for our family. His source of income was destroyed in moments, in addition to that, our house was completely burned by the Israeli army leaving us without a home or income, so I cannot rely on my father for financial support because he is also struggling.
Ahmed is my brother 21 years old, he is in his last year at university ( 4th year). He is studying optometry as his dream to work with my father, preparing to open his own clinic and together making a development in their work. This harsh war destroyed all his dreams and left him stuck without continuing his education. My 18-year-old brother had just started his university life before it all got destroyed. They are both planning to start it over again to achieve their dreams.
I have great aspirations in my life, and your support will help me to reach my ultimate goal, so I am launching this campaign with a humble request for your help. Your kind support will not only allow me to achieve my dreams, but it will also allow me to have a greater impact and serves as an agent of change on the lives of so many people in Gaza.
Whether you make a small donations please, share this campaign with your friends and family, or send a message of support, each one of your support will bring me a step closer to my goals and a greater opportunity to make a difference. Together, we will rebuild our dreams and give hope for a shiny future in Gaza.
With regards,
Doaa
