Help Dolly and Mumma get into a furever home

Amy Sherwood and her amazing service dog Dolly Pawton have pretty much become staples in Naples! They enjoy participating in so many community events…from the annual Fourth of July parade to car or motorcycle shows, craft fairs, Veteran fundraisers, and so many more community events. People know, recognize and love Dolly Pawton! She was voted the American Humane Hero Service Dog in 2020 and was featured in local newspapers, on television and even on the Hallmark Channel!
Dolly, who will soon be seven years old, has spent her entire life as a resident of Naples. Amy had lived in Naples a little bit longer. For Amy, this is the first place in a very long time that has felt like home.
Due to circumstances out of her control, which include being a victim/survivor of domestic violence, there were many difficult years when Amy didn’t have a home or anywhere she really felt safe. When she found the place she’s living now, that changed. She found a quiet little corner of the world where she was able to lay her head down at night and for once, she wasn’t quite as fearful for her safety. Shortly after finding the place where she currently lives, Dolly came into the world…in fact, Dolly was born in the very house they’re living in making this the only home Dolly has ever known! Together she and Amy have been living happily and thriving for the past seven years.
Due to debilitating health issues, Amy doesn’t always feel too good. She has been blessed to have a place where Dolly can go out in the yard and play even if Amy doesn’t feel up to taking her out. Amy put a fence around the yard to make a safe place for Dolly. Amy has a ramp which allows her wheelchair accessibility as she is confined to a wheelchair. Last year, a local business was kind enough to donate a dock for Dolly. Not just one dock but a double wide dock which is not only safe for her but for Amy too. The company even came out to Dolly’s Pond and installed the dock to ensure everything was just right…safe and sound for these two amazing girls! Dolly is able to get much needed exercise at her pond and Amy is able to enjoy being out there with her, enjoying the serenity and beauty of the land. Amy and Dolly had a lot of fun last summer and after all their hard work and determination Dolly became a Dock Diving World Champion.
Their home is a place where they’re both happy and thriving…until recently. Amy was advised a few weeks ago that the owner of the property where she is living is selling the property and she will have to move. This was devastating news to Amy and all of us who love her and Dolly. Time is fast approaching that they will be required to leave this place they’ve come to know and love as home. The scariest part is they have nowhere to go. They have to have a place that is wheelchair accessible and a space where Dolly can be outside safely in a fence is a must. Also, Amy’s financial situation isn’t the greatest. She is disabled and cannot work so her income is very, very limited. Finding a safe, suitable place is a very difficult task, especially with such a short window of time. But here’s the deal…if we can raise enough money, Amy could purchase the place she’s living and she and Dolly could stay put!
In order for that to happen, here is the plan. We need to raise $100,000. The price of the property where Amy and Dolly live is $200,000. So why do we only need to raise $100,000? There is someone who wishes to remain anonymous who has amazingly agreed to invest the other $100,000, conditional on the other half being raised through Amy and Dolly’s GoFundMe. Once the money is raised, the property can be purchased. Amy and Dolly will then be able to rent their home as they are doing now, but this time they will be working toward their goal of home ownership! With the money raised from the GoFundMe effort, Amy and Dolly will start paying back the money paid up front by the anonymous donor and once that is paid back, they will own their home, their property, the yard, the fence, and yes…Dolly’s Pond!
Can you help make this dream of safety, of security, of home come true for Amy and Dolly? Please don’t think you don’t have enough to give! Every single dollar helps! We want to see this precious pair we all know and love be able to stay in their home. Please consider your best gift and make your donation today. And if you aren’t able to give financially, please share their story. You never know who might see it and be able to help. In big ways and small ways, we love Amy and Dolly Pawton always! Thank you so much for taking time to read about our special friends!
