Help Don Recover: Car Accident & Home Vandalism

Donation protected
Two weeks ago while driving home from work, my brother, Donald (Don) Manteris, was in a terrible, near-fatal car accident. Don was pinned and trapped for nearly 3 hours before a passerby saw him and called 911. During that time he was completely conscious with horrendous injuries including: a shattered right hip, internal bleeding from multiple organs, broken ribs, a broken nose, a split upper lip that had to be stitched back together, and multiple other bruises and lacerations.

Once at the hospital Don was put in an induced coma and intubated for several days and had multiple surgeries to stop the internal bleeding and to repair and reconstruct his hip. He lost 3/4 of his spleen and he currently has no feeling in or use of his right leg. He is only able to walk with the use of a walker and is wearing a specialized boot because he developed "drop foot". He is frequently in severe pain due to nerve damage. It will take 6-8 weeks for the bones to heal, and his recovery will take several months to a year of intensive physical and occupational therapy, with the goal of restoring feeling and mobility to his right leg and foot.

Because of this loss of mobility, Don is currently unable to work and is out on unpaid leave from his job, leaving him with no way to pay his mortgage or other monthly bills, or even basic expenses. His car was completely totaled and while he luckily does have another vehicle, it will take at least $1000 in repairs to get it on the road. To make matters worse, while he was in the hospital, recently evicted renters of the house he owns severely vandalized the property. They busted out two windows that need to be replaced, destroyed the carpeting throughout the entire house, and defaced the walls. While he is currently safe and staying with family, this is a very temporary living situation. Before he can safely return to his home it will need to be professionally cleaned, painted, and windows replaced.

This is a tall order for anyone, and though Don's a fighter, right now he needs as much help and support as he can get. If you are able to donate anything at all to help Don get back in his home and on his feet, it would be deeply appreciated. Any amount helps! And if you are unable to make a donation, we humbly ask for your prayers and positive thoughts as Don heals; this is just as valuable to us as a monetary donation!
