Help donkeys help students help the future!

Translation of Gizel’s wuffle: “Please, can I have my salad and mineral supplement?....and while you are at it, how about a Home!”
Currently, there are 12 donkeys (jennies) retired from a research project at UC Davis who need to move on to the next stage of their lives. We have a group of dedicated animal science students helping us get them trained in all they will need to know to get along with their adopters.
So, help us spread the message of burro wonderfulness by guiding this herd AND young people through the brilliant world of donkeys, while making this group of jennets into the happiest and most well-adjusted individuals to ever went in search of a home. These donkeys came together from various rescues and owner surrenders, and to find optimal welfare and an ideal future, it is critical that they learn to interact with humans without fear and with a willingness to deal with the changes in environment, that, for better or worse, is characteristic of domestication. The students take me back to my own youth as a struggling animal science major (50 years ago!), trying to figure out where I was going to fit in. By helping to support this project, you will not only be helping donkeys, very directly, but additionally creating love for a much-maligned animal, among some young people who will be veterinarians, scientists, farm managers, and animal caretakers for many years to come. Funds are needed for feed, board, supplies, and student support. Thank you for anything you can spare in these difficult times.
