Help Donna Save Her Car and Continue Her Healing Journey

Donna needs her community’s help to save her car, which is essential for her to continue healing and creating a better life for her and her son. Over the past few years, Donna has endured unimaginable loss. In just 9 months, she lost three important men in her and her sons’ lives—her boyfriend in a car accident, her grandfather who raised her, and her boyfriend’s father, whom she cared for in his final days battling cancer.
This tragic series of events deeply affected Donna's oldest son, who was only 12 at the time. As he struggled with grief, Donna did everything she could to support him, but without the resources or support, her son began acting out. Donna spent the next three years fighting to keep him on track while raising her youngest son, who was also struggling in school due to the family’s immense grief.
Then, two years later, tragedy struck again. Donna’s son’s father passed away, leaving her as the sole provider. Donna took a leave from work and was diagnosed with Complex PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Six months later, her 15-year-old son tragically passed away as well.
Despite these overwhelming losses, Donna has been doing everything in her power to rebuild her life for the sake of her youngest son, who is now 12 years old and thriving in school after years of emotional and academic struggles. Donna has been working tirelessly on her own healing journey, seeing a psychiatrist, therapist, and doctor regularly, meditating daily, exercising, and maintaining her support systems.
However, the financial hardships have been immense. Donna fell behind on car payments over the last 8 months and now faces losing her car—the very lifeline that keeps her connected to her community, her son’s school, and her own healing journey. The bank has given her until November 22 to pay $10,603 to save her car. Without this vehicle, Donna will be unable to attend her college courses, participate in a business start-up program in Vernon, or continue providing the support her son needs.
Donna’s resilience is nothing short of inspiring. She has created a grief support group, started a “No Youth Left Behind” initiative, and remains dedicated to helping her youngest son navigate his healing journey through epilepsy appointments, autism assessments, and cultural connections.
Through all the adversity, Donna has never given up, and she continues to show up for herself and her son, working to build a brighter future. Now, she needs her community to show up for her. Please consider donating to help Donna raise the $10,603 needed to save her car so she can continue healing, working, and creating a better life for her and her son.
Let’s help Donna get back on her feet and show her that even in the hardest times, her community stands behind her. Every little bit helps—thank you for your support!
