Help Donna win Over Ovarian Cancer
Donation protected
A water-loving, garden-making, sailor with a passion for nature, who is suddenly and unexpectedly diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, seems unfair. That’s how I feel about my wife’s situation. But it is what we are now dealing with. The tough decisions for surgery were made and now we go into full gear to eradicate the cancer and live our lives to the fullest, full of thanksgiving to the Creator and full of hope for a long future.
As we continue to battle Donna’s ovarian cancer, we’ve also come across mounting medical bills and care needs. After 6 weeks of preparation which included several primary care and oncologist visits, CT scans, an MRI, X-rays, Donna had tumor debulking surgery. She ended up with a total hysterectomy, splenectomy, removal of her gallbladder, appendix, and omentum. Cancer cells were also found on and removed from her diaphragm and colon. Now she faces chemotherapy for at least 4 months, along with other follow-up appointments, labs, PET scans, and more.
We are seeking help with funds for current medical payments and future medical costs as we go through this battle against cancer. We are so blessed with a supportive network of family and friends who have already helped us in different ways. I continue to do what I do best at work, but our account and my income could never fully cover the sum of these costs. Insurance does cover some costs and we are also working diligently to negotiate the out-of-pocket payments, but we still have much left to pay. We have already hit the out of pocket maximum for this billing calendar, but when it resets on Sept. 1 (which is in the middle of the chemotherapy), we will face a new set of bills.
Donna is a fighter and has been making great strides in post-surgical recovery. She is now trying everything she can do to get stronger for chemotherapy. We are deeply grateful for the love, help, prayers, and support of everyone. Know that you are also in our prayers and may God be abundant in His blessings and graces to you as you have shared with us. Let's get this sailor and avid gardener back into top shape to take on the Bay and continue to seed beauty in our midst.
