Help Double K Ranch restock hay after fire

Double K Ranch needs help to purchase 300 tons of hay, all their winter feed, that was lost in a fire caused by lightning.

We want to thank anyone who has reached out, donated, helped on the ranch, or stopped by the deli in Missoula. It has been great to see the community come and show support. We have found a supply of hay for the winter, which will cost roughly $48,000 to replenish what was lost. There are also ongoing costs with cleaning up the fire and repairing damaged fencing. Insurance will only be able to cover $10,000 of the lost hay. From all of the work these past few months from our amazing ranch crew having gone up in flames, any donation helps tremendously as we continue working through this. It will go directly towards helping us feed our animals throughout this coming winter.

Unfortunately on July 28th, a lightning strike hit our ranch and sent all of our hay up in flames. Destroying all of the hay we just cut and baled for this coming winter. As our crew frantically tried to put out the fire, with the help of many local fire departments, they had to destroy the surrounding fencing to move bales as quickly as possible. No hay was able to be saved, but we were able to prevent any other structures from being burned. The total loss of hay is 300 tons.

We are grateful for everyone who has reached out to help us replenish our hay supply for this year and to rebuild our hay area fencing. We appreciate any help we can get to rebuild and get ready for this coming winter.
