Help Doug in His Sudden Battle Against MS
Donation protected
On behalf of Doug Blumlein and his Wife Paula I have created this go fund me to help support Doug with his medical bills following the unfortunate circumstances that came about after receiving a medical treatment.
The following are words from his Wife Paula. Any contributions are greatly appreciated. We are hoping to ease the burden of a new tough life Doug and his spouse are faced with.
“On august 9th my husband Doug was hospitalized because he couldn’t move his left foot anymore. After an episode of numbness and tingling in both of his legs for about a month, a week later he became completely paralyzed from the diaphragm down. The doctors found lesions and severe inflammation in his spinal cord, that started to spread like wild fire and are now effecting over 50 percent of his spine. Despite strong medication, including Rituxam, which is a form of chemo treatment, Douglas is not getting any better. He developed pulmonary embolisms and clots in both legs, he has an ongoing fever and a new symptom popping up daily. He is in the care of atleast 40 different doctor’s. The diagnoses at this point is Multiple Sclerosis and Transverse Myelitis, the rest of his symptoms seem to be a mystery for the doctors themselves. From this point forward we don’t know what’s ahead of us but he will require 24 hr care and assistance for all of his daily functions. We are currently trying to get out home modified for wheel chair accessibility. With ongoing treatment and hospital bills ( for a stay for over two months) it’s just extremely overwhelming. Doug was the main bread winner. We were supposed to move to Germany with my mother that got diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and are out of income and time to figure this all out. Doug is the best and kindest most generous person and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone out. We are just desperate for help. Thank you for reading our story,”
If anyone has the pleasure of knowing Doug you know how blessed we are to know him. Let’s give back and support him and his family during this tragic time.
