I want to share with you the incredible story of my friend, Dr. Ameer Shurrab. This year, he graduated from Ain Shams University in Egypt with an outstanding grade in Medicine, despite facing numerous challenges and hardships along the way.
Ameer’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. While pursuing his medical studies, his heart and mind were with his family in Gaza, who have been enduring unimaginable hardships for the past nine months. Tragically, his beloved mother passed away before witnessing his graduation, a moment she had always dreamt of.
Despite the adversities he faced, Ameer persevered and achieved his dream of becoming a doctor. However, his family recently suffered a devastating loss when their three-decade-old family business, Shadi Boutique, was destroyed by the occupation forces. The destruction of their livelihood has left Amir in a difficult financial situation, jeopardizing his plans to specialize in surgery abroad.
As a friend, I have seen firsthand the dedication, passion, and resilience that define Amir. His dream of becoming a surgeon has been his driving force since childhood, and now, more than ever, he needs our support to make it a reality.
