Help Dr. Ashraf, Used as Human Shield, Rebuild Life

*Who I Am:*

My name is Dr. Ashraf Adel. I am a dedicated medical professional from Gaza City who has recently endured unimaginable hardships and losses.

*What Happened:*

I lost my pharmacy and medicine warehouse, and narrowly escaped with the wounded people I was treating at my home in the upscale Al-Rimal neighborhood in central Gaza City. When the Israeli army stormed the buildings in Al-Rimal with dogs, they brutally executed residents in neighboring buildings, including three men and a young boy, in cold blood in front of their families. The cries for help and the weeping of women and children still echo in my ears.

As I rushed to save some of the injured, soldiers armed with weapons stormed in, demanded that everyone in the house, including my family and the wounded, sit in one room. They began searching the house and stole my wife's gold and cash—more than 60,000 shekels, equivalent to $17,000. After hours of being held without even being allowed to drink water while the wounded were bleeding, the soldiers demanded that only the men leave with them after midnight. They used us as human shields, making us walk more than 3 kilometers and detained us for three days in inhumane conditions, subjecting us to beatings and torture during the interrogation.

*Our Current Situation:*

Since that terrifying night, my family and I have been displaced more than seven times, moving from Gaza to the central Gaza Strip, to the south, and back again, until our final displacement east of Khan Yunis. We have lost everything we owned and are now struggling to cover our daily expenses. I also had to stop my master's studies, which is something I deeply wish to continue once we find some stability.
