It is with a sad heart that I am informing you (if you have not already heard) that Dr. Jaiyeola has passed! He was expected to travel to India before mid-April but passed away before the visa was issued by the High Commission of India.
Dr. Jaiyeola is survived by his wife (Mrs. Margaret) and three children.

Dear Friends,Last year, Dr. Leke Jaiyeola was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's T-cell cutaneous lymphoma (stage 3). At the time, his doctors and medical consultants in Nigeria suggested that he needed to go through a chemotherapy treatment. He went through the treatment for about 9 months in 2018. In spite of the chemotherapy procedure, his latest biopsy results indicate that he will need to undergo further treatment due to relapse.
Outcomes and decision
Analysis of Dr. Jaiyeola’s recent biopsy by his doctor and medical consultants has led them to conclude it is best he receive more specialized treatment outside Nigeria. After researching a number of hospitals in various countries, he and his family have decided to get further treatments from Artemis Hospital located at Sector 51, Gurgaon - 122001, Haryana India.
This hospital was selected after weighing factors such as: doctor expertise and availability, track record, and cost.
Treatment procedure and cost
Based on cost estimates, his total treatment cost comes up to about $30,000. This amount includes both his treatment and living expense during treatment period at India (estimated to take between 6 months to 9 months). He will be accompanied by his wife.
Break down of treatment is as follows:
Medical cost- $20,000 (for electron beam therapy, lymphoma drugs & chemotherapy if needed)
Living, transport and other miscellaneous costs - $10,000 (for two people for 6-9 months)
Estimated total - $30,000
About Dr. Jaiyeola
Dr. Leke Jaiyeola is a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He has worked at the University of Lagos for about two decades. In his role as professor, he trains young engineers and also performs world class research.
Many of Dr. Jaiyeola's previous students have gone on to contribute to Nigerian society and other countries all over the world.
