Help Dr. Salem Evacuate Gaza

Hello Friends, My name is Dawson Whitaker, from Kansas, USA, and I have created this fundraiser for Dr. Hani Salem from Gaza City.

The Dr. has survived through multiple attacks on the current living area which, after the invasion of rafah, he has been evacuated into Dier Alabalah in the middle of Gaza Strip. The Dr. has decided to give me his ex-wife’s number to make sure I can contact and assist with his kids to make sure this fundraiser can help no matter what happens to him. God willing we will see the whole family make it to permanent safety.

Money donated to this fundraiser will be sent to him via either PayPal or wire transfer for fees at the border crossing at Rafah (currently $7500 per person), transportation to Cairo, airfare to Australia, lodging and living expenses, ongoing support to his children who remain in Al-Mawasi, and, if and when their mother is able to evacuate, assistance to them with all of the above.

As the crisis in Gaza escalates, her people face an uncertain future. Many, like Dr. Salem, are making the difficult decision to evacuate. Even now, the UN and other agencies have already declared Gaza uninhabitable, with over 75% of infrastructure destroyed. It will be years before life returns to anything like normal, and children grow faster than cities. As a divorced father of two, Dr. Salem has decided that the best option he has is to leave Gaza and position himself to continue to provide for them financially. Dr. Salem is a devout, compassionate, and earnest person. Here is his story:

My name is Dr. Hani Salem. I am a divorced father of two beautiful children, a boy (9) and a girl (12). I have worked as a surgeon at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, Occupied Palestine for the past 15 years.

I have lived through four wars on Gaza and have worked diligently to help my people. This present war is not a war; it is a genocide. In November 2023, I lost my home and remained trapped inside the hospital as the occupation tanks entered. I was ordered out of the hospital by the Israeli forces and sent to Rafah. I was displaced again prior to the Rafah invasion. Now I live in a tent on the shore of the Rafah Sea.

My children are in the care of their mother, and are also displaced in They moved north to ( khanyounis mwasi)..

They are pieces of my heart, and I will do anything to see them happy. My greatest concern is how I will provide for their needs and give them a secure future.

I have the opportunity to move and live in Australia. I hope to establish myself there, obtain medical licensure, and continue practicing surgery so that I can support my children financially, and if their mother is able to evacuate them from Gaza, I will assist them to get to safety. I need expenses for my children for a year, in addition to travel costs for myself. Please help me so I can reach Australia and continue to support my children!
