Many Blessings to Our Community of Students, Friends & Loved Ones!
On October 13, 2020, our dear friend, sister, teacher and guide, Dr. Jennifer Lisa Vest (@SpiritTeacher), a Black & Indigenous, two-spirit, Master Teacher of the spiritual arts, was in a life-altering car accident. This resulted in semi-permanent neurological damage as well as physical impairments, from which she is steadily recovering. As a result of the accident, for the last four months, she has not been able to hold her regularly scheduled ceremonies or attend to her many devoted clients and has lost over $12,000 in income and will likely need twice that amount to sustain her through her recovery.
Our immediate community, including (but not limited to) members of The Women of Color Medicine Series and The Women of Color Apprenticeship Program, have supported her as well as we’ve been able to, inside of these double racial and COVID19 pandemics. Together, we have decided that, in order to maintain Dr. Vest over the duration of her recovery, which includes: the purchase of medication; costs related to seeing her naturopath and other wellness support; home maintenance; and helping to replace her totaled vehicle, it is time to open up into the broader community to ask for your help.
Please know that we are holding, with you, this moment in which the transformative chaos of the U.S. and the world looms so large. We know that it can often feel like there’s little we can do individually to make a difference. Today, as devoted students and friends, we’ve come to share with you an opportunity to truly make an impact.
Our immediate goal is to raise a minimum of $20,000 over the next 14 days so that our Teacher is assured a moment of security and rest as she continues to recover from the impact of the accident. There is a proverb that teaches, “many hands make light work” and If we all chip in, it won’t take much, to make this *light work*!
We are both excited and anxious for Dr. Vest’s recovery and for the continuation of her work as founder of The Metatron Academy, a rare and inclusive place where Lightworkers of Color, and others, are able to formally learn and reconnect to African diasporic and Indigenous traditions and lineages of psychic and spiritual work.
We invite your sacred offerings, whatever you are able to give, and give thanks, in advance, for sharing this fundraiser within your networks. All donations will go directly to Dr. Vest. Thank you for your offerings and prayers of support!
