Help Duke Recover From GDV Surgery

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Michaela Meklin. As many of you may know... Duke, Isaiah and I are on our journey down south to our new home. Duke has been the best boy the whole way, per usual. He has been my best friend for 10 years now. For him, that is a whole eternity.
I Have always had this fear of a thing called bloat. Bloat is very common in bigger dogs such as Duke, sadly. GDV (Bloat) occurs when a dog's stomach fills with gas, food, or fluid and subsequently twists. GDV develops without warning and can progress quickly. I have done everything in my power to prevent this from happening, I check him daily, monitor his food and water intake, as well as his monitoring him while exercising.
On April 16th was our day of travel from Maryland to North Carolina. Duke was acting himself, all excited and puppy like. He was eating, drinking, and using the bathroom as he usually would. We made it to our Airbnb around 8:30pm... by 8:45ish, both Isaiah and I could see something was up. Duke was not prancing around, smelling everything in sight, or wanting to do anything he normally would like. He did not even want to go for a ride, and if anyone knows Duke... rides are his most favorite thing in the world. He was pacing, panting hard, had a tiny bit of bloating in his belly, and had very pale gums.
We rushed him to the Emergency Vet, we all prayed for the best outcome on the x-ray. Though we got news that nobody ever wants to get... he had bloat. They ran a bunch of tests on him, his blood work was great for his age and this situation. That was a plus. The doctor let us know during his surgery that he was doing great and somehow, someway during the process of them pumping his stomach, he was able to flip his stomach back the right way before they even started the actual surgery part of it. They reinforced his stomach to a side wall inside so there is a very minimal chance this could ever happen again.
The surgery costs 9k but with the medications that he will need I have set our goal to 10k. Please share this and help get Duke up and recovered. Anythings helps. Thank you all.
-EDIT- I have lowered our goal to 5k, due to the fact that we received outside donations!

-All funds go towards the cost of the surgery and his meds-
