Local Victoria pitcher Duncan Knight-Brens has an unexpected opportunity to attend a US college on a baseball scholarship. However, the offer is only valid if he can provide the remaining school and living costs up front. He was not planning to travel for school so these costs were not planned. However, this chance is too good to pass up. Duncan needs $15,623 by July 31 to qualify for the spot in school.
Born and raised here, Duncan started playing ball at the age of 5 in his own community with Esquimalt Little League. A passionate and talented athlete from the get-go, his mom Mairi Brens always worked hard to ensure Duncan had access to sport as he grew up. Faced with sudden unexpected roadblocks over the last couple of months, including, among other things, being diagnosed with a heart condition that has interfered with any support Mairi can offer her son, Duncan is at risk of losing this opportunity.
