Throughought my life I have focused on helping or protecting others. I served in the Oklahoma Guard and I am an Operation enduring Freedom Veteran. I have been a teacher and a hospital security officer. Now I, or rather my family needs help.
July 5th 2021 changed our lives forever. I was diagnosed with lukemia, which I belive is linked to toxic exposure during my deployment. I am battling the VA to get the benefits I need for my cancer but so far have been mostly unsuccessful. The diagnosis resulted in several hospital stays, loss of employment, and alot of time away from my wife and son. I partially beat the cancer and was excited to return to work only 6 months later while continuing treatment. I finally finished all treatment in January of 2023.
Just a few short months later, in March, I began having symptoms and test revealed that I have relapsed. I am now facing several more rounds of chemo and a bonemarrow transplant. I will be unable to work again, this time for over a year. I am going to be hospitized for several months. We have many expenses that we will need help with, including relocating to be near the transplant center.
AML is a very aggressive type of Lukemia with a high mortality rate. The transplant itself also has a relatively high chance of complications. I will never stop fighting, and anything that can help me in that fight is amazing.
Ultimately my goal is to beat this cancer and enjoy watching my son grow up and my wife grow oldr and greyer. Any and all donations large or small are greatly appreciated by my family and I. They will go directly towards helping us while we fight this togather. Please share our story and say a prayer for recovery. Thank you all in advance!
