Help Dustin Defeat Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Donation protected
Back in March, while at a family dinner my big brother shares with all of us that he has some lumps in his neck and is going to get them checked out by an oncologist. We don't claim it. We tell him we are all praying and that he is going to be perfectly fine. Fast forward a few weeks, and don't you know, we get a group text that there is NO CANCER! Amen to that we proclaim. Shortly after this, Dustin (my big brother) follows up with an infectious doctor to see if the lumps are an infection. A few weeks ago my brother calls me and says the words " I have Hodgkin's Lymphoma". I'm pretty sure something explicit came out of my mouth....it happens when I am in complete and utter shock sometimes. My big brother has cancer. This hits like a ton of bricks, but my family rallies. Then the very next week, the bricks are back and we find out that he is stage 4, and it has spread to his lungs and bones. Soul Crushing.
Dustin is strong, and I don't just mean physically either. He is intellectually, mentally, and emotionally strong. My brother has overcome so many things in his life already, and I know he is prepared to fight now too, but while he is fighting for his life- life goes on. The bills for his treatment have already started coming in and piling up. It's very unlikely that he will be able to continue working during the course of his treatment. This will be the hardest part for my brother. If you know him, you know he is a family man at heart. The way he cares for his wife and two beautiful daughters is by providing for them. My hope is that this fund will help to alleviate some of the stress of the financial burden that cancer causes. Every little bit helps, and we are grateful for any support to help Dustin, Courtney, and the girls during this incredibly scary and challenging time.
