Help Dustin's Family During Medical Crisis

My name is Megan Millard and I am starting this fundraiser to help my sister Amber, brother-in-law Dustin, and their family during a difficult time. On Saturday June 8th, Dustin suffered an extreme medical emergency from Hyponatremia with a severe sodium level of 100, Hypokalemia with a potassium level of 2.1 and unknown internal bleeding. Due to this he was extremely disoriented and continued to fall which then caused a condition called Rhabdomyolysis, which is a breakdown of muscle tissue that releases damaging protein into your bloodstream. During this time he also suffered from a seizure and brain swelling from the fluctuating sodium levels. Because of the severity of his condition, Dustin was immediately intubated and life-flighted to Baylor United Medical Center in Dallas Texas where he spent several days in the ICU under sedation and intubation until they were able to regulate his sodium and potassium enough and the internal bleeding had stopped. While he is lucky to now be home, he has a long road of physical recovery to regain strength, muscle, and fine motor skills as well as many follow-ups to monitor his kidneys, electrolytes and find the cause of his GI bleeding. Dustin was the sole income for the family and the amount of care and physical rehabilitation he needs will place him out of work for an extended period and he will require assistance with transportation as well as normal daily activities, making employment options limited for Amber as well. As the medical bills start coming in and after care is needed, we all know regular bills unfortunately also won't stop coming.
