Lower jaw removal surgery

Donation protected
My name is Sarah. My story is a long one. It started back in 2019 when I was shockingly diagnosed with tongue cancer. I was not a smoker nor a drinker, so the fact that I had this was, well, a shock. The cancer was very aggressive and fast-growing. By the time I had surgery, I ended up losing 80% of my tongue. I also lost the ability to eat or drink by mouth and have been tube-fed ever since.

Three months after the surgery, the cancer came back. The surgeon wanted to remove all my tongue, but I opted for chemo and radiation. It worked, and the cancer was gone. What I didn’t know was how much permanent damage the radiation that saved my life would do. I developed cervical dystonia in my neck, which permanently forces it to the left and down. I cannot open my mouth more than a few centimeters.

Last September, I had to have all my teeth removed. In doing so, I developed an infection in the hardware that was in my jaw from my tongue surgery. It had caused some of the skin on my chin to fall off and expose some bone. So I underwent surgery to remove the hardware and the infection. What we didn’t know was how much the infection had spread, and when I came out of surgery, I had lost the whole bottom half of my face, something I wasn’t expecting at all.

My amazing husband has been working two jobs to try to catch up on our medical bills that just keep coming. The stress of this has caused him to also develop health issues we just found out that he now has diabetes on top of all of this. So, I’m asking for help because I would rather have him cut down to one job and spend some time with me and to slow down for his own health. I know I can’t physically or mentally do many more surgeries, and I’m trusting in the Lord with all things and am praying that the kind people out there will be willing to help a little so that we can have some financial relief from this mountain of bills. All funds will be used for current and future medical expenses, I do need another surgery which will be June 26 to remove my lower jaw. My whole jaw bone has died and is now infected it’s already broke in 2 places and a piece broke off a few weeks ago. I’m not sure what the future looks like but I’m trusting in God.

I thank you all for your prayers and your support. It means so much to all of us.
