Help Ease Trish Smith's Cancer Journey
Donation protected

In the last week we found out that my mother, Trish Smith, has lung cancer. Because of the location of the largest tumor, she has lost the ability to walk. Her tumors are inoperable and the oncologist has said they will never be able to fully remove them. Her best case scenario is shrinkage with chemo and radiation treatments. She will be undergoing a spinal surgery to try to remove some of the pressure from her spine with a 20% chance that she will be able to walk again. Current pathology results are still pending and we will have a definitive diagnosis on what type of cancer next week. Her oncologist has estimated that it is either stage 3b or 3c lung cancer. We are also awaiting a bone scan as well as a pet scan to determine if it has progressed to stage 4. As you can imagine, this will put an extreme financial burden on my parents. I ask that if you feel so inclined to please donate to help cover her medical expenses and any other expenses they incur while she is in the hospital and while receiving treatment. Please keep her in your prayers whether you are able to donate or not. Thank you all.
Update: she tolerated surgery well and has been recovering in the ICU. She has said she can feel tingles in her feet again so we remain hopeful. There is still a long road ahead. Until the pathology comes back and she has her bone scan, the oncologist is estimating that it is stage 3b-3c. We are hoping to have a definitive answer today or tomorrow.
