Help Ebrima's Village Gain Essential Water Access

Donation protected
"I am Ebrima Sanno from the Gambia in west Africa in Sarre Mawdo village. We have 214 people in my village. We lack water in our village and we used to travel 32 kilometers everyday to have water for our needs. We have a garden in our village but at times we don't water our plants for days cause of lack of water. Starvation is also a problem in my village. Things are really hard on us here and we are asking help from people across the world please help us have boreholes in our village."

Ebrima and the people in his village are suffering from a lack of basic necessities like water, food, and hygiene. Their goal is to hire a company specializing in drilling boreholes, which will solve many of these basic necessities and free up time and expenses, allowing the children in the village to attend school more regularly. This can significantly help the village of Sarre Mawdo and its people in many ways. Imagine being without water to drink, clean your home, and yourself; it would set you back and become a necessity to improve your living standard, which is exactly what this will accomplish. No more having to walk far or purchase water when that time and money could be used for furthering the village's development and other expenses.

The environment and locations for drilling have already been checked by the company, which reported that three total boreholes need to be drilled to bring water access to the entire village. The cost of the boreholes will be $38,000 in total, as an estimate. We are asking for $43,000, however, in case of any complications, GoFundMe charges, and to help meet basic necessities in the meantime.

This fundraiser is being organized by Benjamin Jackson. I met Ebrima first when he reached out to me through social media; we talked and called a few times, and he told me about what he was experiencing, along with his community. He introduced me to some of those in his village, as well as the village elder, Saikou, with whom I immediately hit it off. Saikou has lost sight in one eye and has a hip injury, causing him to use walking sticks and sunglasses - something I also have to do for different reasons. We immediately burst out laughing when we saw each other through the phone screen, but there was a mutual understanding between us.

They asked me to help set up a GoFundMe for them and ask people to donate. Many parts of Gambia are without access to clean water, with over 86% not having access, and many without water in general. If donors can help accomplish this, that's 214 lives you're improving, as well as improving the lives of future generations in Sarre Mawdo, which in return can help lives all around Gambia.

With your help, they hope to achieve this goal of having easy access to water to take care of themselves and their gardens. Saikou, the village elder, has also said he wants to raise all the money at once so the entire village can share in the benefits together without some members of the village benefiting more before others. With this, he's also gained my respect and adoration. But anything you all can do helps - from donating to sharing and making posts about their situation on social media, which can significantly help get the ball rolling!
