Help Us Raise Money for Eco's Surgery.

Eco is one of the most loving dogs you'll every meet. He is quite the character and is not like any other husky or dog honestly. His all white fur and blue eyes always draws attention and he loves it! I've owned Eco for about 3-4 years before I owned him he was just a ex- roommate's dog. Fast forward he's become one my close family members. One story that I always tell people before he became my dog, he was stolen from Lexington and kept by a stranger for almost 3 months. Back in 2021 from January - March, I had tried my hardest to get him back. From getting flyers, stalking Facebook and calling local vets my efforts paid off and I got him back in once piece when all hope was lost! At this point I had gotten really attached to him even though he was not mine. However life took a turn when me and my old roommates parted ways and I was able to look after Eco and keep him!

A few weeks ago, Eco started having issues while straining and had a ear infection. At first, I thought it was just age creeping in but I'm the kind of person that likes to make sure he had no other issues going on so I opted for an Ultrasound and bloodwork. I had dropped him off early in the morning as soon as I had gotten off work. Around 1PM I had received a call just expecting to say that Eco is ready to pickup however that was not that case and it was a call that the Doctor would like to schedule me to come in to speak in person. This had made me worry and I was anxious as this has never happened before.

Sadly my worst fears came true, after the ultrasound and blood tests, the diagnosis came: Eco has a mass on his spleen. This can be very dangerous in two ways. 1. If he gets overly excited, bumps his stomach or gets picked up his mass could rupture and he could bleed out. 2. While some masses can be benign, many are not, almost 2/3's of masses in the spleen are cancerous. There's a 30-40% chance is not cancerous and I'm hoping to take that chance. The only way to know—and to give Eco a real chance—is through surgery. A Splenectomy

It’s a word I’d never heard before, but now it’s all I can think about. After deep diving on the internet I've seen many comments on people sharing their stories with some not knowing about the mass until it is too late. However through some of those comments, many of them stood out to me and it was to not hesitate and take the chance. Dogs are able to still have a good life expectancy without their spleen!

The surgery itself is expensive—between the operation, anesthesia, post-op care, and follow-ups, the estimate is over $2,900. This is not including if he would need a blood transfusion or of any other complications arise. As someone living paycheck to paycheck, that number feels crushing. But giving up on isn’t an option. He’s still got so much love and life left to give, so many more sun-soaked naps and tail-wagging walks ahead of him—if he gets this chance.

So I’m swallowing my pride and reaching out for help. If you’ve ever loved a dog, you know the way they wrap themselves around your heart. Eco is a close family member and he's brought so many people smiles. Now, I’m just trying to return the favor.

Any donation—no matter how small—will go directly toward Eco's surgery and recovery. If you’re unable to give, sharing our story means the world. Thank you for reading, thank you for caring, and thank you for giving Eco a fighting chance.

With all my heart,
Eduardo & Eco
