Help Ed and his family through trying times

On Sunday Aug 27th my friend Ed Moffett was brutally attacked in Yorktown in Hunterbrook Field / Lakeside Park which is behind his house.
A bunch of kids on ATV’s were wreaking havoc in the park and ripping up the baseball field etc.
Ed confronted them and asked them to stop destroying the park. They surrounded him with their ATV’s and according to Yorktown PD, he was intentionally run over by a 21 year old adult on one of the ATV’s.
The group left the scene of the attack and left Ed for dead. Thankfully Ed’s wife went outside to see what happened as with the injuries Ed sustained he was 10 minutes from bleeding to death and if the first responders hadn’t applied a tourniquet to his leg he would have bled to death in the park.
Ed sustained two broken ribs, a traumatic brain injury and a double compound fracture in his right leg.
Ed was then rushed to the trauma unit in Westchester Medical Center where emergency surgery was performed to reconstruct his leg.
The surgery was finished in the early morning hours on Monday Aug 28th.
Ed’s only daughter was scheduled to get married this past weekend in Texas on Sept 2nd and it was touch and go on whether Ed was going to be able to make it to walk his daughter down the aisle.
With the aid of a wheelchair and walker and thanks to a Good Samaritan who purchased 2 first class tickets to Texas, Ed was able to attend his daughter’s wedding this past weekend.
Now starts the hard work.
Ed has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him and he is unable to work his full time job for the next few months at a minimum while he heals and learns to walk again.
The medical expenses and lack of full pay are the reason for this campaign and any money will help Ed and his wife through this difficult period of time.
