Help Edvinas Stand on His Feet Again: Your Support Can Change My Life.
***Update***
Hi everyone,
I'm reaching out to ask for your support as I continue my rehabilitation and prepare for my second trip to India this January. This journey is really important to me and will help me get stronger and healthier. Your donations will go directly towards covering my therapy sessions, medical treatments, and travel expenses necessary for this trip. It means so much to see how many people care about what I’m going through, and I’m incredibly thankful for each and every one of you. Your generosity, no matter the size, will make a big difference in helping me reach my goals and move forward. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support!
With gratitude,
Edvinas
Hello, my name is Edvinas, but you can call me Eddie, and I am a 34-year-old architecture student from Vilnius.
My life turned upside down a year ago when I accidentally fell from the second floor of my rental loft apartment while working at my computer. The injuries were devastating – I broke my spine and fractured my skull in several places. The doctors gave me little hope, telling me I would most likely be paralyzed from the chest down or, left in a vegetative state or, in the worst case, might not even wake up from the coma . However, against all odds, I survived and am now fighting to stand on my feet again.
Every day is a tremendous challenge.
I spent a long time in intensive care and later in the neurosurgery ward enduring excruciating pain. Then it was time for my primary rehabilitation. Learning to transfer myself into a wheelchair was my first "victory,". after three months there i went to Bydgosch, Poland where I had a very intensive recovery plan, enduring excruciating rehabilitation. After that I came back home where I was working with various therapists including aqua theraphy. After a while I visited Jurmala, Latvia, that had a different approachch to recovery, but not in the slitest any less tnan Poland. After two weeks in Latvia, hard work at home continued. Every step forward requires enormous effort. My friends and family have supported me in every way, but my biggest challenge still lies ahead. I have attached a few videos below, to try and show at least a small part of the work that im putting in to reach my goals.
My hope lies in a modern stem cell transplant procedure.
It will take place in India. This procedure is one of the few options that offer a real chance for me to walk again. The two treatments, along with rehabilitation and medical care, will cost $30,000 – a sum I cannot raise without help. My family and friends have already contributed, but to reach this amount, I am reaching out to all of you.
Before the accident, I was active and living the best time of my life
I worked out five times a week, studied, and enjoyed life. Now, I not only fight physical pain but also the drastic changes that have altered my life. I’ve lost my independence – I rely on my family and friends even for daily activities like showering or preparing food. My goal is not only to stand on my feet again but to regain the ability to live independently. a video below shows a small part of the life that i had before, and how it changed in a split second.
Every Dollar you donate is incredibly important to me.
Your support can help me achieve the impossible – to walk again. This is a chance to start a new chapter in my life where a wheelchair is no longer a part of my daily reality. I believe that, together, we can make this dream a reality. The video below shows how i'm trying to make the most of my current life and how my frieds are helping me to stay active.
Thank you for your support, your belief, and your generosity. Every contribution brings me one step closer to standing on my feet again.
Love, Eddie
