Help save Ekrima's family from death in Gaza

I cannot live the pain of loss again

I am Ekrima Ismail, I am 25 years old. Today I live in Belgium, in a refugee camp, and my family of 8 lives in Gaza Strip, suffering from the scourge of war in a displacement tent after our house was bombed at the beginning of the war that broke out on October 7th.

I lost my father when I was a young child. I lived my childhood with my mother and she was like a father and mother. We were a happy family consisting of 8 members, me, my mother, and my siblings, until life forced me to immigrate to Belgium to try to help my family, and I did not obtain residency or work here until that moment, and the war was faster than me.

My family now lives in a displacement tent that does not protect them from the heat of summer or the cold of winter. Rockets and shells rain down around them at every moment, and death may snatch them at any moment.

I cannot bear my mother's groans and my sisters' screams. A week ago, a neighboring house was bombed and the wall fell on my mother, who suffers from thyroid atrophy.

My sister Reham calls me and says, “Please save us. I have many dreams, and I have not lived any of them until this moment.” I cannot bear my sister’s pleas for me to take her out of Gaza when I do not have money or work.

My sister Hala calls me after traveling some distance to find internet and tells me that her hand was burned from lighting a fire to prepare bread.

My sisters are academically excellent girls and were among the first in the Gaza Strip. One of them obtained a 99% average in high school a month before the war and she dreamed of studying medicine.

I am appealing to you, in the name of humanity, to help me save my mother, who worked hard to make me a strong young man, and for the sake of my sisters, who have been deprived of a father’s affection since their childhood. The cost of saving an innocent soul is $5,000 to leave the Gaza Strip and this genocide through the Rafah crossing into Egypt.
