Help Elect Bryn Edwards for Balbriggan & Skerries
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Bryn Edwards, and I'm running in the upcoming local elections for Balbriggan & Skerries. I'm reaching out to ask for your support in my campaign. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.
About me
I live in Balbriggan and I've been at the forefront of fighting housing issues, standing with people facing evictions. I aim to use my platform to fight for more public housing and local services in Balbriggan and Skerries.
I also co-founded the Balbriggan Palestine Solidarity group, and I hosted a cultural event last December, raising funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians. I have campaigned against racism with Balbriggan for All and for LGBT+ rights. A key focus for me is public investment in services including care, housing, and health, prioritising people before profit.
My priorities:
- policies that protect families and guarantee them a safe and secure home: an eviction ban, affordable homes, compulsory purchase orders of vacant homes, and a ban on investment funds bulk buying homes
- increasing state investment in childcare: Fingal has the lowest proportion of community-based childcare services in Ireland (6%)
- increase funding and providing additional support for individuals with disabilities, autism and dementia
- For system change not climate change. Campaign at a local and national level for ecosocialist policies, not blaming and taxing individuals.
- Continue actions in support of Palestine
The 2022 Census showed there were 166,000 vacant properties in Ireland, with over 48,000 vacant for six years. Of those 48,000+, over 23,000 were vacant in 2011. In April last year, The Journal reported that the government left over €1 billion unspent of its housing budget since 2020. At the same time, Fine Gael councillors like Ted Leddy, who the Ditch reported as failing to declare an ownership in thirteen rental properties, and Fingal County Council's deputy chief executive Ethna Felten, with an estimated €3 million property portfolio including five rental properties in Dublin, shamelessly continue to enrich themselves while failing to protect poor and vulnerable families.
There is a deep rot in our governmental institutions, and making housing and the cost of living affordable requires clearing out this rot. In the last general election the word of the day was "change", and real change starts with removing those who have a vested interest in keeping a system that benefits landlords, international investment funds and the banker class.
We need to kick out FF, FG and the Greens. Fight for a Left Council and a Left Government. We will never sell out and go into coalition with FF and FG. We stand behind campaigns that put people before profit, organising and building in communities.
People Before Profit Funding
People Before Profit is not funded by big business, millionaires or property developers; instead, we rely on donations from ordinary people. All our Public Representatives take a worker's wage, including our TDs. If you could consider donating, no matter the size, it would make a difference.
What will my donation be used for?
This GoFundMe will be used to fund my election campaign. It will go to pay for the day-to-day things like leaflets, posters and zip-ties, and banners.
Legal notes: Donations over €100 cannot be made anonymously. Donations must be made by residents of Ireland or Irish citizens (or both) – by donating to this GoFundMe you are confirming that you meet these criteria.
