Help Elect DeGarr as Moore County Commissioner

Donation protected

Founded between 1784 and 1785, Moore County, North Carolina has only had one African American County Commissioner--ever. That man was Dr. William E. Simmons and, after serving only one term, he left office more than 30 years ago. The County has long been known for its towering longleaf pines, lush greenery, world-class golf courses and idyllic villages with their quaint boutiques. However, in a region whose storied past of non-representation dates as far back as its days of plantations sitting on tree-lined paths, change is long overdue.

Help support the grassroots campaign of Ariadne DeGarr for a seat on the Board of Commissioners in Moore County, North Carolina. Electing her to this seat will be a historic first step in bringing balance to a board that, as a matter of historical fact, has never been an accurate representation of the people that it is meant to serve.

The DeGarr for Moore campaign is about more than just one candidate challenging one incumbent. It is about the people coming together to challenge what has been imposed upon them as the norm. It is  about the parents of school-aged children, the people of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, the people that deal with food and housing insecurity, the people that work multiple jobs and still live check-to-check, and all of the other countless perspectives that are not being represented at present.

It’s about showing the local government, in no uncertain terms, that it must be #AVoiceForAll !

Only together can we continue to move towards being an even better country than ever before—one county at a time!
