Help Elexus with her Cancer Journey

We finally have answers... Stage 2B Ovarian Cancer. Not what Lex or any of us expected.

On August 10th 2023 Lex went in for surgery to remove an ovarian cyst on her left ovary that had been giving her major issues since October 2022. It was affecting her day to day life. She became anemic from abnormal bleeding that never stopped and kept getting brushed under the rug by doctor after doctor.
After multiple ER visits, ultrasounds, MRI’s and bloodwork all they came back with was “it's just a cyst it'll rupture, you look fine and your bloodwork looks great”. Lex has had ovarian cyst for years and the pain and abnormal bleeding felt different this time around.

Around fall 2021 she noticed how tired she was all the time. Brain fog. Very forgetful. Bloated stomach. No strength when it came to lifting or moving things that used to be easy for her. So she knew something was off. This girl still kept pushing through everyday even when all she wanted to do was curl up into a ball. She was working two jobs as a dental assistant and nanny and by the end of the day would come home and pass out the second she laid down.

Jan 2022 she was advised by the ER Dr. after going in about 10 different times to schedule a follow up with a OBGYN. It was a quick 5 min appt and being prescribed birth control for three months to shut her ovaries down, stop the abnormal bleeding and pain...
You would think when a patient has become anemic from abnormal bleeding, in and out of the ER in excruciating pain, a ovarian cyst not rupturing after a couple months that you would want to do an exam, exploratory surgery, tests and get to the bottom of it before prescribing something right?
(No one would do a procedure on her as she was young and has never had kids.) Unfortunately the birth control she was prescribed only fed the tumors more.

Lex was over the doctors in Utah and had a gut feeling that she needed to move back home asap and see her doctor there who then referred her out to an amazing pelvic pain doctor who listened to her concerns didn't even hesitate to say “let's get to the bottom of this and get you schedule to remove whatever is causing this all”.

Which brings us back to August 10th, during surgery the Dr. came out and spoke to her mom about some concerning things she found and asked if taking the left ovary was ok. The cyst/tumor she removed from the left side was almost 10lbs. She also found another tumor on her right ovary that didn't look great. Endometriosis, fibroids and a small cyst was also found so it explains most of the pain she was experiencing. Thankfully she was able to leave the right ovary for now so Lex has the chance to freeze her eggs before it needs to be removed.

September 12 2023 Lex went into meet with her oncologist. He diagnosed her with Stage 2B Ovarian Cancer. He said she will need to do three rounds of chemo and she will lose her hair with it. That was a huge shock to Lex and hasn't been easy for her to digest. Her first question was can I still work? He said depending on how you respond to chemo you should be able to continue to work. Thankfully her job is pretty easy going and is what keeps her going these days so were praying that she can physically be well enough to continue to work through this but also trying to be realistic and plan ahead just in case the chemo takes a toll on her physically.

Now after talking with friends, family and other survivors of ovarian cancer they have all asked how they can support and help Lex get through this tough time along with asking if a Go Fund Me has been set up? Thankfully Lex had a sweet friend she went to elementary school with reach out and offer to start up a Go Fund Me for her shortly after her diagnoses was shared. She just wasn't ready yet to even accept the offer as asking for help isn't easy for her.

If you are able to, donations would be greatly appreciated to help cover numerous medical expenses and to allow Lex to kick cancers ass, which we all know she is a strong gal and will beat this. Please donate/share if you can.
