Help Eli on his helmet journey
Donation protected
Not my usual type of post and this is one I’ve thought long and hard about doing but here goes...
Anyone that knows us, knows that this blue eyed beauty is Eli Sim Watson and anybody that doesn’t know us, Eli was born in March and has a big brother called Sam (best big brother ever)
When Eli was about 6 weeks old Jonny noticed that his head was a “funny” shape. I rang the health visitor for her opinion and she said it’s just flat head. If babies have a preference of lying on one side their head can become flat. This is a very common thing with babies and normally is easily corrected. Eli was a good sleeper which didn’t help as he went to his cot and didn’t move much through the night so he was constantly lying on the side of his head. We were referred for physio and after 3 months we were told there is nothing more they can do to help. We had bought a pillow, used a rolled up towel, tummy time (lots of it) repositioning and nothing was helping Eli. I was getting so annoyed ☹️ a mummy’s job is to fix things, and I couldn’t fix this
The physio had mentioned a helmet. Something from the start I was determined I wouldn’t get. The thought of people staring or talking about Eli and why they thought he was wearing the helmet, is something I thought I couldn’t bare. But when I seen that nothing was helping, and told if his head shape hadn’t changed by now that it wouldn’t, we booked a consultation with Technology In Motion in Belfast.
We went for our consultation on Friday past and unfortunately Eli is in the severe category.
He has mild plagiocephaly (flatness to the side of his head) and severe brachycephaly (flatness to the back of his head)
The only thing will help the shape of his head is the TIMband.
Unfortunately the cost of these helmets are £2025 and this is where we would really appreciate your help , however small, a donation is welcome!
We would love it if your could help Eli on his “Helmet Journey”
