Help Elijah Clayton & His Family
Donation protected
This is baby Elijah Patrick Clayton, he was born in June 2020 with an extremely rare congenital disorder of the N-Glycosylation called PMM2-CDG1a known only on the National Organisation for Rare Disorders. There are currently only 800 people in the world with this condition. It is a multisystem disorder which can be both disabling and life-limiting.
In babies such as Elijah it is characterised by feeding problems, developmental delay, episodes of internal organ failure to name just a few. In spite of all that he has been through, this little miracle still manages to smile at everyone who meets him and is adored by all his family.
Elijah has two older brothers, Reuben who is 5 and Isaac who is 2. His parents are Sophie and Matt who are struggling to keep normality in the boys daily lives whilst Sophie spends much of her time at the Evalina Children's Hospital which is 2 hours drive away from the family home and due to current COVID restrictions the family are unable to see one another.
Sophie will be unable to return to her job as a carer until Elijah's condition is stabilised and Matt has had to take additional unpaid leave to pick up the pieces at home with the two younger children which has had a huge impact on the families finances.
As Elijah gets older he will require specialised equipment to help him, modifications to the family home as well as sensory toys and a specially adapted wheelchair which will cost around £6,000.
Any help you are able to give this family, however small, will mean the world to them, it will take the worry out of their current financial situation and give them support to buy the equipment that will help Elijah to reach his potential and beyond.
Thank you for reading his story, we appreciate you taking the time and are truly grateful for any help you are able to give, however small, it will mean the world to this family.
