Help Elisha Mitchell Recover from Accident
Donation protected
Dear friends and readers,
On behalf of the Mitchell and Murden families, I am organizing this GoFundMe for Elisha Mitchell. On July 2, he was a passenger in a tragic accident that resulted in a fractured spine, torn achilles, and fractured collarbone. Thanks to the swift actions of family and emergency services, Elisha was airlifted to the nearest trauma hospital. Due to the nature of his injuries, Elisha will have to go through extensive in-patient rehabilitation to regain motor control to walk and perform daily activities.
Originally from Norfolk, VA, Elisha moved to Lynchburg to attend Liberty University where he played Division 1 football and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Law & Policy, Pre-Law. Upon finishing his studies, he went on to marry his college sweetheart, Shamira, and begin his professional career in Northern Virginia. This time last year we were gathering to celebrate Shamira and Elisha's union as husband and wife, today we are coming together to support them in this challenging chapter of their lives.
If you know Elisha, you'll recall how much of a devoted husband, son, friend, and colleague he is. He's the type of person to light up any room he steps into and make the most of any situation. While this sudden accident could have deterred him, Elisha is determined to recover as well as he can. Despite his physical limitations, pain levels, and obstacles that lie ahead, he continues to approach each day with courage and optimism that is inspiring to us all.
In reality, doctors estimate Elisha's recovery to take several months to a year—meaning he is unable to work and support his family during this time. As you can imagine, expenses (both personal and medical) are at an all-time high.
As a community, we are coming together to lend a helping hand to Elisha and Shamira during their time of need by setting up this GoFundMe campaign. Every dollar contributed will help ease their financial burdens (as it relates to travel, treatment, and living expenses) and allow them to focus on healing and rebuilding their lives.
We truly appreciate you for considering our cause.
With gratitude,
Friends and family of Elisha & Shamira Mitchell
