Help Ella pay for Vocal Feminisation Surgery

Hi everyone, my name is Ella, a trans woman based in Cardiff.

After today's supreme court ruling (16/04/25), the UK has become an even more dangerous and terrifying place for trans people. As a lot of you know, I had Facial Feminisation Surgery last year, which cost me £17,000. I was kind enough to receive £1500 from Gofundme donations which helped me out a lot, and for which I'll forever be grateful to everyone who kindly donated.

Everything went well with this surgery, and it helped me out massively in reducing the amount of hatred I receive in public, and it's made me feel much more comfortable in my skin. Unfortunately with this, another problem has become exacerbated. I unfortunately have a ridiculously deep voice, which has always made me uncomfortable. From recent experiences, where a man in a club told me he found me attractive, but heard my voice and then became aggressive telling me that I'm causing him to question his sexuality, so much so that his friend had to hold him back from squaring up to me, it's become apparent that something has to change.

With today's ruling that trans women are now classed as men, and that we are to be barred from single sex areas e.g. toilets and changing rooms, this has made it even more necessary to get something done about my voice.

It would be unsafe for me to re-enter men's bathrooms after over 5 years of using women's, and seeing the effects of hormone replacement therapy.

As it is, whenever I have used toilets and gone into a public restroom with my mother or my fiancée, I have always felt the need to pretend to be deaf and use sign language to thank people or say hello should I be interacted with, as I'm terrified of being attacked when my voice is heard.

Today, I have enquired into Vocal Feminisation Surgery, and booked an initial consultation which is coming in at £550.

The surgery in total amounts to around £6,000, and a pre op endoscopy and multiple post op assessments at £200 each raise this cost.

A hotel, transport to London and a month of not being able to speak, thus not being able to work is also going to bring this closer to £10,000.

Trans healthcare such as this is not covered under the NHS, so I will be going to the London Voice and Throat Clinic to have this done, hopefully by the end of this year.

If anyone can spare anything at all of give this a share, I'd be beyond grateful. I just want to live my life in peace, and this surgery will hopefully make a big difference.
