Help Ellie beat Rhabdomyosarcoma

On January 20th, Jen Thompson and Mike Nute heard three words that turned their family’s world upside down: "Ellie has cancer."

The Details: Beautiful, smart, and fierce 8-year-old Ellie has been called to battle a very rare pediatric cancer, rhabdomyosarcoma. Only about 35 kids per year face this diagnosis. Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a cancer of the soft tissue in the body.

Ellie was diagnosed with Stage 4 embryonal RMS with bone marrow metastasis. She underwent surgery to have a port implanted, and will begin an aggressive 10-month chemotherapy treatment plan. She will experience side effects that will require near-term expenses as well as long-term care.

The Mission: Supporting Jen and Mike by releasing some of their financial burdens so they can focus on Ellie’s care. Any donations made will go toward helping Ellie’s family provide her with the best possible treatment options and support the dynamic needs of their family. The estimated cost out of pocket for medical-related expenses is $40,000. Your donation will support Jen and Mike in a family effort to make Ellie as comfortable as possible while she fights her RMS. Any unused funds will be donated to The Jimmy Fund, benefiting the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and thousands of children with pediatric cancer.
