Help Support Elly Gil's Family After Eaton Fire
Donation protected
My name is Delwin Santizo and my beloved cousin unfortunately is among the countless people who have just lost their complete livelihood to the devastating Eaton Fire in Altadena.
Her name is Elly Gil, and she is like a sister to me, we have gone through many beautiful memories together, but many hardships as well. Along with her husband Enrique and 11-year-old son Henry, they are lost amongst the aftermath of this horrific disaster. They are too modest and humble to say, but they are in desperate need of a little support.
I feel a personal loss in a sense because I have seen how much she has struggled and worked to provide an amazing life for her family. She's never asked for a handout, always knew that she had to work for what she had.
She's been a productive member of the Altadena community for almost 10 years. She's been fully immersed in her son's schools and organizations around the city. As a result, her son Henry has grown into an amazing young man. He has participated in sports in his schools since he was very young, running track despite having health conditions, and has been an integral part of a soccer team with his friends. Even though only 11yrs old, he has been part of many local institutions, and has been in the Jeff Speakman's Kenpo family for years. A true testament of a parent's raising of a child is in that child's behavior, and even after this horrible event that happened, when Henry was asked by his mom what he wanted now that he had nothing, the first thing that came to his mind was a soccer ball. That's heartbreaking to hear considering he lost everything, but it goes to show he's been raised grounded and thoughtful.
Through this all, Elly herself was okay with starting over with her husband, who has been with her through everything, taking odd jobs anywhere he could just to provide a good home for his family. Even now that she has nothing, she's helping organize clothing drives and reaching out to help others affected by all these fires. She truly is one of a kind, and her small family circle had to convince her that everyone at one point in their lives needs a little help, and that it's okay to accept that love and support from people who truly want to give it.
So as we all try and sift through the remains of the life that once was in Altadena or any fire-affected area, we, the blessed ones that have a little more, need to try and extend that helping hand out so everyone can have that right to resume life.
As Elly moves forward, she needs any help you may be able to provide, no matter how small, so she can start the road to recovery.
All funds raised will go directly to Elly and her family.
Thank you in advance!
