Prije godinu dana, 24-godišnji život Elvire se potpuno promijenio. Dobila je dijagnozu prvog slučaja Giant Cell Tumor ikada viđenog u Bosni. Gigant Cell Tumor je rijedak, agresivan tumor koji se obično razvija u blizini zgloba na kraju kosti. U slučaju Elvire, tumor se razvio oko arterije blizu šestog pršljena kičme. Elvira je bila u jakom bolu i nije bila u stanju da obavlja svoje osnovne svakodnevne funkcije. Zbog lokacije tumora, doktori u Bosni nisu se osjećali ugodno, jer nisu imali iskustva s uklanjanjem tumora omotanog oko krvnog suda i bojali su se da će je operacija u Bosni moglo bi značiti kraj njenog života. Da bi spasila svoj život, Elvira i njen muž su otputovali u Tursku, gdje su lekari mogli da operišu na tumor. Nažalost, nakon operacije, Elvira se probudila bez osjećaja u nogama.
Trenutno, Elvira nema funkciju u svojim nogama. Nakon operacije, pati od ozbiljnih spazam u mišićima. Njen muž je napustio posao kako bi se brinuo za nju. Elvira se mora nositi svuda i ne može samostalno funkcionirati. Doktori u Turskoj preporučili su Elvira da se podvrgne intenzivnoj fizikalnoj terapiji kako bi joj pomogla da ponovo hoda.
Fizikalna terapija koju Elvira treba nije dostupna u Bosni. Elvira i njen suprug moraju putovati u kliniku u Zagrebu, gdje će morati ostati 3 mjeseca.
Zbog ove situacije, ni Elvira ni njen suprug nisu bili u stanju raditi i iscrpili su svoju ušteđevinu. Medicinski računi se gomilaju i ova fizikalna terapija je njena jedina šansa da joj uzvrati život, da ponovo hoda i da stvori porodicu.

One year ago, 24 year old Elvira's life completely changed. She was diagnosed with the first case of Giant Cell Tumor ever seen in Bosnia. Giant cell tumor is a rare, aggressive tumor that usually develops near a joint at the end of the bone. In Elvira's case, the tumor grew around an artery near the 6th vertebrae of the spine. Elvira was in severe pain and unable to carry out her basic daily functions. Due to the location of the tumor, doctors in Bosnia did not feel comfortable operating as they did not have the experience to remove a tumor wrapped around a blood vessel and feared that surgery in Bosnia would kill her. In order to save her life, Elvira and her husband traveled to Turkey where doctors were able to operate on the tumor. Unfortunately after surgery, Elvira woke up paralyzed from the waist down.
Currently, Elvira has no function in her legs. After surgery, she has suffered from severe muscle spasms and cramps. Her husband has quit his job in order to care for her full-time. Elvira has to be carried everywhere and she cannot function independently. The doctors in Turkey have recommended that Elvira undergo extensive physical therapy to help her walk again.
The physical therapy that Elvira needs is not available in Bosnia. Elvira and her husband must travel to a clinic in Zagreb, Croatia where they will have to stay for 3 months.
Due to this situation, neither Elvira nor her husband have been able to work and they have exhausted their savings. The medical bills are piling up and this physical therapy is her only chance to take back her life, walk again, and start a family.
