Help Emilies journey after brain surgery

On Saturday 1st June 2024 my 19yr old little sister Emilie was found unconscious at home and rushed to our local hospital. It was found Emilie had suffered a major brain bleed and was airlifted to Brisbane in a critical condition so they could save her life.

That same day Emilie underwent emergency brain surgery to relieve the pressure off her brain. She spent the next 6 days intubated in ICU. She has since got two bad infections in her brain fluid and is currently fighting them off. She has responded well to treatment at this stage from her brain injury. The uncertainty is how long she will be in hospital and her recovery time.

Emilie is the most positive girl you will ever meet and does anything for anyone. She also faces challenges in life as she is Autistic but she hasnt let her disabilities stop her in life. She graduated Grade 12, went to prom, got her drivers license and got her first job taking special needs children to school. She absolutely loves her job.

My mum Amanda has taken extended time off from work to be by Emilie's bedside everyday. The hospital is 4hrs away from where we live and mum is living out of a hotel so she can be with Emilie.

I really just want to take the financial stress off mum and my stepdad so they can concentrate on helping Emilie get better. My stepdad Shane has had to come back home to go to work to have income coming in. Emilie asks everyday when her daddy is coming down to see her.
