Help Emily and mike start a family

I started this fundraiser for my best friend and her husband. Here’s a message from them. 

Mike and I have been together for almost 15 years. Married (this year) for 5 years. 

For a good probably 8 years we have been trying to have our own tiny human. We have discovered that it’s not as easy as we are taught in school. It’s so so much more complex. So much has to go “right” and if one thing goes wrong it’s over. 

We have done any and everything you can think of. Medications, acupuncture, holistic, legs in the air, seriously you name it, we’ve done it. 

We have had 1 IUI in November of 2021 that was unsuccessful. When the December cycle came around, I didn’t have any dominant follicles so no IUI. The clinic called and basically said we can up the medication dosage, but more than likely our best chance would be IVF. 

It’s so defeating to Learn that your body just simply can not do what it is designed to do and you might need more help from science than you originally thought.  We have been going through so many different emotions. Do we give up? Do we just adopt? Do I get a hysterectomy? Or do we give it a shot?  Do we risk everything on science and pray it’s on our side. 

For 8 years this is all we’ve know. The stages of grief every month. The hormonal changes & adding hormone medications on top of that. The shots I have to give myself. The endless appointments at the fertility clinic. Having my arms be so bruised from the blood work they have to get. 

Needless to say, we want to give it a shot. We want to try. We want to know we have done everything possible to have our own tiny human to love & dote on. 

We want to experience what everyone else has been able to.
