Help Emily Anne Fair with Medical Expenses

Howdy everyone reading!

I'm T.J. and I'm setting up this GoFundMe for my mom, Emily Anne Fair.

If you're reading this, you know my mom so I'm sure you know who I am, but just in case, I am the youngest of her three sons and currently operating as my mom's power of attorney.

You may have noticed during May of this year that Emily became more distracted and distant at work and in her personal life. Well, on May 24th, she was hospitalized and diagnosed with sudden end-stage liver failure. It came as a pretty heavy shock to all of us and there were a lot of things that contributed to it, but we immediately started looking at and planning for a live liver transplant with me as the donor. We did our best during that time to keep her living independently but it quickly became clear she needed some support so, working with family and friends, we got her to New Mexico to stay with her sister. While there, we visited multiple doctors and were told a few times that a liver transplant was not a viable option for my mom. Since then, we have embraced a love and comfort-focused approach to her care. We moved her just down the road from me in Denver to a skilled nursing facility and that is where we are currently.

At the recommendation of her friends, I'm setting this page up as a way to provide information to all of you about how my mom is doing, and to recover some of the funds we used to private pay for her stay at this skilled nursing facility.

All funds will be used for care expenses and covering medical costs until my mom's passing.

Just for reading this, I want to thank you. It means you care a lot about my mom and the work she's done for two decades as a teacher and incredible friend to so many. I will keep this page updated with how she's doing. If you would like to show support without donating that's great.
